04.13.10 What Makes Gmail A Great Service? By Denise O'BerryHave you tried the free email service - Gmail - from Google? It's been around for a while now and is an app that can help you control your in box. I love Gmail. For one thing, it exists in the cloud so you can get to it from anywhere which is important to me. You're not dependent on a single computer to have access to your important email. And here are five more great reasons to use (and love!) Gmail. 1. Its a fabulous spam fighter. Today I cleaned out 1000 spam emails that came into my mailbox in the last week. It took me less than five seconds. One click on a link and poof! they were gone. I never had to look at or act on those emails, Gmail did it for me. That saves me time. 2. It's like having your own personal Google in your mail box. Gmail comes equipped with a powerful search function. If you can search on a word or a term, you can find an email in your mailbox - quickly. 3. Get mail from all your email addresses. No matter how many email addresses you have, you can configure Gmail (easily) to pull in your mail from those addresses so you get your mail all in one box. 4. The organization tools help you find what you need quickly. Gmail uses labels, rather than folders, to help you organize your mail. Once you've tagged an email with a label, you can look at all mail for that label or search within the label. Very powerful. 5. Handle repetitive emails with the click of a button. Gmail has an option called canned response which allows you to create a response you can use at any time with any email. When an email comes into your box that fits the canned response answer, you simply click on it and boom! you're done. This saves a ton of time. So there you go. My top five great reasons to use Gmail. It's flexible, it's fun and it's free. What could be better than that? Do you already use Gmail. What is your favorite function?
